RoofSection Studio: build a roof section in 3D, one layer at a time

A web app for roofing contractors, consultants, architects, and specifiers. Start with a deck, add a vapor retarder, insulation, coverboard, and membrane (or underlayment and a roof covering), and see the whole roof assembly in 3D. Click any layer for its specs and manufacturers.

Low-slope and steep-slope roofs

Thermal and wind checks

Total thickness of the assembly, plus total R-value, U-factor, and a dew point and condensation check on Pro. Pro also estimates roof loads by ASCE 7: wind zone pressures and the tested rating each zone needs on low-slope roofs, edge metal and coping pressures, fastener, adhesive, and deck attachment layouts, ballast screening, snow and drift loads, and rooftop equipment loads.

Roof conditions and typical details

Show parapets (with coping and counterflashing options), scuppers, roof drains and overflows, pipe penetrations, curbs, roof edges, exhaust fans, HVAC units, solar arrays, expansion joints, roof-to-wall flashing, guardrails, roof hatches, fixed ladders, eaves, sidewalls, chimneys, skylights, hips, valleys, and snow guards, and add typical construction details drawn from your own assembly.

Exports

PDF drawing sheets with a title block, SVG and DXF section details, IFC for BIM, 3D models (GLB, OBJ, STL, USDZ), and a CSV layer schedule.

Free to use, with a Pro plan ($5 a month or $50 a year) for R-value, U-factor, condensation, and roof load checks, roof conditions, typical details, unwatermarked drawings, and CAD, BIM, and 3D exports. Privacy · Terms · Contact
